I really like the visual novel medium, but I'm not that fond of romance, so I like that the Jisei series breaks the typical otome/galge mold by sticking to its mystery genre without a romance subplot. And there's two layers to the "mystery" of the series: the whodunit within each game, and then the overall mystery of everyone's stories and secrets that are slowly revealed through little hints dropped in dialogue.
As for the cast, everyone's interesting and quirky, and the main group has a makeshift family thing going on if you like those kinds of relationships. Also the voice acting is a great touch that makes sakevisual's works stand out. (Li Mei is voiced by Estelle's First Strike voice actor btw) ;w;
Though to be honest, the first game is really short for the price tag and a little ??? at parts just because it's setting itself up for the rest of the series, but the art and writing have only improved over the course of the next two games in the series. The only quip I have is the background art, but in light of everything else, it's a minor thing. THAT WAS PROBABLY MORE THAN YOU WERE ASKING FOR BUT I HOPE THAT ANSWERS YOUR QUESTION? I get really excited about Jisei I'm sorry
And um I hope I don't come off as nosy, but can I ask more about what you mean by being in the same business? I'm curious ;;

I need to get a paypal account /sobsYeah, sure : D I help indie developer make visual novel games, so we're pretty much in the same entertainment business? There's a forum for Ren'py gamedev; LemmaSoft Forums, see. It's where pretty much all indie gamedev who makes VNs (using ren'py) gathers. SakeVis and Winter Wolves are the 2 big name companies there.
I don't make my own games, tho XD I can draw, but not come up with a story nor write it (writing is the death of me /cries). That's why I'm just drawing for others now. I've helped people make 3 games; Left of Center, Night at the Hospital and The Buried Moon, but tbh the stories... are not so good. The writing quality is pretty low, and that's because they're game jams. I was recruited late for LoC, so idk what happened but NatH was done in 5 days, and TBM the same. You can imagine how rushed the writing would be .__.
I'm teaming up with a new circle, Storybeam, and we're attempting to make a commercial game now. ...Actually, I should go work on the assets now rofl WHAT AM I DOING IN ARTES AAAH ;;7;;
By the way, holy 09/12 for your timid21 and heroes08?

And I know about LemmaSoft! I have a friend who hangs around there occasionally, but she hasn't made any projects. We always joke about wanting to make a VN, so I'm familiar with ren'py and the other VN fixings, but we never actually get around to it ahaha. But maybe a game jam VN is just the thing we need to do, even if it ends up being terrible. XD
Good luck on that commercial project though! but aaah your work looks really nice ;;
Also alkdjshhlk having a conversation while trading I like this people should do it more often.
I'll give you timid21 for holy12, but as for heroes08 I was wondering are your slots still open? I saw you were offering them for trades over at the trading comm.

.....
....................ok I give in ;_; y-Yes please aah ;7; Thank you so much omg
Well, if your aim is just to get a game out, then a game jam is definitely suitable for you! It doesn't allow for much thinking, and it prevents you from being too ambitious, so it's all good! : D
Thank you! I'M JUST A COLOURIST in the first 2 games, tho lol. The sprites for the 3rd game is done by me, but coloured by someone else because there was no time XD Game jams do this to you if you're aiming for quality ;v;b
They would if they actually do have a topic, I think! Otherwise we're just beasts hunting down cards of our favourite characters oops I mean;;
So, trading buddies y/y? ;Db
There's only 1 last regular slot left! What would you like? : D

I've helped out in non-VN game jam projects, so I know how fast-paced it is and how you have to know where your limits are in order to decide how much quality you can afford and still finish on time. So maybe when I've settled into the new school year, I'll try it out. It seems fun, despite the workload.
And coloring's still an important job! Pretty lineart is nice, but there are such things as bad coloring jobs. And there's nothing bad with collaboration to save time, though I can understand if you wanted to color them yourself.
That's true. I know I'm guilty of just dropping an answer in a discussion game instead of actually discussing, or I'll try to answer someone and nothing happens because it gets swept away in a sea of trades.
But yes trade buddies!
And flower08 please!

Really! Now I'm curious; what games have you worked on? : D I've been wanting to try out RPGmaker, but derp it looks... really complex to use and thus intimidating, ahahah ;;v;;
then again, maybe it's because my idea is pretty ambitiousIt's not that I wanted to colour them myself, but rather... I wanted to complete the full task on my own, y'know? It's kind of selfish, but I do feel a bit incompetent for having to rely on someone else lmao
No regrets, though. My decision to collaborate all those times was just, and I'm happy with those : )
Aaah I think it's fine to answer for the sake of getting rewards! It kinda defeats the purpose of a discussion post, but not everyone likes to socialise/have time and so that's perfectly acceptable. Admittedly, I only answer to get cards, so. THERE'S JUST NO TIME /cries
Thanks!

To be honest, I don't actually know what the games are? See, my school would host in-person game jams, where groups would just hang out in the classrooms for 48 hours straight. The way I helped out was I'd be on call at the campus recording studio, in case someone decided that they wanted to record something (such as sound effects) for their game, or they wanted me to sift through the school's sfx library for them and play it through the nice sound system so they could pick things out.
So I wasn't as involved as an actual project member, but I do know how it goes, from people I'd talk to that went on break, or when people were too ambitious with their sound ideas and I had to tell them no. I've also been part of music recording jams, but I refuse to let my work from that see the light of the internet ahaha :')
That's understandable about wanting to finish stuff on your own. But it's not being incompetent if the project has the resources to split the work to meet a deadline. You can be plenty competent, and it's just an executive decision thing.
And sdlkghgdf yeah I completely understand not having the time. Just look how late I was getting back to you. I do think chatting is nice, but I wouldn't force it on anyone.
